Your law firm website should give a client or visitor to your website something interactive to do, and a reason to come back.

Your interactive feature can be as simple as an e-mail feedback link to comment on your articles. You can then post these comments and your response as a discussion group.

It can also be as extensive as live chat, conference, and broadcasting your own law radio program.

In either case, the interactive features, tone, color scheme, graphics and navigation of your website must match the personality and clientele of your firm.

More important than anything else, your firm's website design, content and interactive features should make visitors want to know more about the people behind your content.

e-mail and newsletters
All our websites include two e-mail accounts per lawyer, one under your firm name and the other from our list of legal specialty e-mail names, if you desire. Sending of firm newsletters, and posting your news letters on line are billed at the standard production rate of $50-$75 per hour.

Website cost

A totally custom designed website is similar to an anti-trust or Chapter 11 case. It is not inexpensive because of the hours involved, but is easily affordable for most middle to large firms. Most custom websites range between $5000 - $30,000 for initial design and development.

However, not every firm needs a totally custom designed website.

Remember the 80/20 rule? That 20% of your effort produces 80% of your revenue. It applies to website too.

Your firm can allocate a greater part of your budget to the features of your website that will have the greatest marginal utility for your firm, and use boilerplate for the remainder.

Most websites can be designed and put online in stages, as long as there is continuity among the parts.

The size of your firm is not the main factor to determine the cost of your web site. Disc storage space is inexpensive, as is "boilerplate" reproduction of resumes and e-mail links.

If that is all you want, then you can expect an initial set up charge of $500, plus $200 per attorney, and a monthly hosting fee between $60 and $125. After the first year, there is an annual renewal charge of $500 per year.

Our custom web site design is composed of two stages.

First, senior strategic planners create the initial interactive architecture, functional design, and structure of your site, at an hourly fee of $175 per hour.

After you approve the initial structure and layout, our production designers, programmers and graphics designers implement the design plan, content publication and updates at an hourly charge between $50 - $75 per hour.

The crucial phase is the initial design. Once this stage is completed, and you have written your content in Word Perfect or Word, our web site production is similar to the production of any standard document in your office.

Most custom web sites start at $2,500. The total cost increases in direct proportion to the volume of pages and discussion topics that you publish online. The unit production cost per page decreases slightly in relation to volume, but in most cases the unit cost per page is similar whether you have a ten (10) member or 300 member firm.
