| THE GOOD |
Arent
Fox - advertisinglaw.com
Arent Fox generated over a million dollars in new business
from the internet last year. It was one of the first firms to develop the
type of legal specialty sub-site
that we have been advocating for the last three years.
Arent Fox gets high grades for form, function and content.
However, the text width on the the content pages is almost twice
as wide as the 45 to 70 characters that studies at Yale and MIT have
determined is optimal for reading on the internet. Persons on the internet
scan pages for highlights before they read them.Very few visitors
to Arent Fox would read their content because it is not presented in a user
friendly layout. They could learn in this regard from Skadden Arps.

Skadden Arps
This site is an excellent example of user firendly easy reading
online and well done links.Skadden Arps also uses a "letter box"
frame design that adjusts to all size monitors. You might not want
to use this design if your firm desires to generate new business over the
internet, because frame sites used on welcome pages do not perform
as well as other page layouts in some search engines.
However, this type of layout is excellent if your web site is targeted
at existing clients and recruiting.
